Life is organic. My public profile could easily be defined by my path towards academic excellence and living up to be an elite role model to my juniors, however, that isn’t my life. What makes my life is my passion for golf, my will to learn, and the unyielding support of my family. Each of these elements has shaped my identity throughout my life, not only contributing to my growth as a person, but my understanding of what it means to persevere, overcome, and appreciate.
Golf is more than a sport; it is a journey of perseverance. Everything about golf is a reflection of life; trial and error. A swing is built upon layers and layers of hard work and dedication. Each hit, whether it’s on the range or the course, helps define an aspect of your game that sticks with you for the rest of your career. If you do not have the integrity to keep going when things crumble, you can’t play golf. That’s why I find golf beautiful. The golf course becomes the canvas while swing becomes the integration of your knowledge, your past mistakes, and your future goals. It’s a game that mirrors the values of life beyond the fairway, teaching resilience in the most unexpected ways.
Parallel to my interest in golf is my desire to learn. The pursuit of knowledge is one filled with challenges and obstacles to overcome. It means embracing the unknown for a greater purpose. Every bit of knowledge you gain is added to a library of mathematical problems and literary works within your brain, developing your understanding over time. It gets you to think on your toes, and gradually, as you learn more, overcoming the unthinkable becomes a walk in the park. With knowledge comes power, and with power comes the ability to make change; something I strive to achieve.
My family acts as the anchor of all the muddle in life. Whether I’m stressed or stuck, the wisdom they have provided me has helped me to move forward. For every accomplishment I push to the side, they celebrate. Without them, I would not have flourished as well as I have. Every moment spent with them has allowed me to pursue golf and education to the fullest extent; and for that, I am grateful.
The intersection of my passion, academia, and family is a plethora of experiences that have helped to shape me into a person driven by integrity, resilience, and gratitude. They are strands interconnected meant to enrich the other. Today, I walk with these values in hand into every corridor of life.
