Through competitive hockey, I've learned to push for opportunities. I've faced obstacles and failure in hockey, but I've become more resilient and determined. Various athletic experiences taught me the impact of leadership and team support. I also learned to work on my weaknesses and put in the focus and effort needed to improve them. The 2022/2023 season was my most successful so far, my U15 A Rangers team finished third in the U18 Female A division. I was the top scorer on the team and we made it to the Provincials tournament where we won the silver medal. I made the first All Star team in Provincials and was the top goal scorer in the tournament and second in total points.
I participate in other competitive sports including cross country and volleyball. I was the fastest female runner in my middle school's cross country race and fourth in the district competition (grade 9). I finished in the top 25 in the season-end citywide high school competition (grade 10). I played on my middle school's senior volleyball team for two years. We made it to the city's semi-finals.
My progression in hockey helped me improve my leadership skills. I've also developed into a better communicator and proactive contributor to team dynamics. These skills not only helped me in hockey, but also in my day-to-day interactions including getting elected twice to my school's student council. Additionally, I was appointed as a captain on my middle school's senior volleyball team and one of three leaders on my 2022/2023 hockey club team.
I continue to prepare and dedicate my efforts to hockey development over each spring/summer season in order to have successful tryouts for my club teams. This will help me pursue this sport in high school, college, and potentially beyond.
I am fluent in English and French and started Spanish in high school. My current high school is a self-directed learning school. This helps my discipline, time management and involvements in group projects; it also fit better with my other athletic, music, social and volunteering commitments.
