My name is Rylee McLeod and I am a 2006 forward playing for the U18 AAA Red Deer Chiefs in the Alberta Female Hockey League. I am from Grande Prairie, Alberta but billet in Red Deer because I want to play at the highest level possible and I plan to play there for the next two years as well. My goal is to play NCAA hockey, earn a post secondary degree and play professional hockey.
I really enjoyed my first U18 season and we just won Bronze at Alberta Provincials in Calgary. I finished tied for 8th in league goal scoring and 19th in points as a 2006 player in a 2004-2006 league. Our team uses Instat and I led the league in faceoff percentage (64%) and also led our team in shots, corsi and hits. I finished 2nd on our team in goals and 3rd in points. I also scored on 5 out of 6 shootout attempts. I played the first half of season on wing and then the last half and playoffs at center and am comfortable in both positions.
I play a fast-paced physical game and take pride in working hard, winning battles, maintaining puck possession and try to create offense every shift.
I was recently selected to the Team Alberta U18 shortlist of 28 players and hope to make the final team which will compete in the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island in February 2023. I also made the Alberta Winter Games in 2020 as a first-year player and tied for our team league in scoring and was awarded female athlete of the year at St. Kateri School in 2018. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and take as much pride in my effort in school as I do at the rink. I will graduate from St. Joseph High School in Grande Prairie in 2024, while doing most of my schooling at Notre Dame High School in Red Deer.
