Personal Statement

I am currently attending Selkirk Secondary School via the Kimberley Hockey Academy in Kimberley, BC, Canada. Until this September I attended Olds High School in Alberta, Canada when the opportunity to advance my hockey training was presented to me following a showcase camp in Calgary. I will graduate in 2018. I love playing hockey and I wish to continue my career as a goaltender. I'm open to considering all divisions of play. When I'm not playing hockey, I enjoy many activities such as archery, shooting and driving ATV's.

In the 2016-2017 season, I was the first place goalie in the league and won the Olds Minor Hockey Association goalie of the year award, with a 0.90 GAA and a .928 SAV%.  Hockey has helped to define who I am as a person. It brings out all sides of my personality, from my persistence and resilience to my competitive nature. I often push myself to become better through training, and I have a willingness to learn. Since I am a very quiet person, I lead by example. I know that my energy and my temperament in the locker room can impact the rest of the team.

Lastly, the high school I attended in Olds is one of the highest ranked public schools in Alberta for academic performance. I completed French immersion in Grade 11 with my DELF B2 and I have been on the honour roll for the past two years with a grade average in the mid to high 80's in the Academic Team Quadrant at OHS. Selkirk Secondary is also a highly praised school in BC; since transferring, my grades continue to be exemplary, and I am currently on the Honour Roll with Distinctions.

  • I had a great time at CHS and learned so much. The coaches and players were great. I didn't set any expectations and enjoyed the experience. My family and I were very surprised when we were contacted by Notre Dame in Wilcox SK days after the camp ended, and the Kimberley Academy soon thereafter. Things worked out with the Kimberley Academy and I had a very quick move and interprovincial school transfer after Labour Day!
  • Camp/Event
  • CHE Just for Girls Elite Camp
  • 7/24/17 to 7/28/17
  • My final CHE camp. I enjoyed the CHE camps immensely and they greatly contributed to my life, not only in my development as a goalie but through my expanded circle of hockey friends throughout North America.
  • Camp/Event
  • CHE Just for Girls Elite Camp
  • 7/25/16 to 7/29/16
  • Worked with Amanda Tapp from Calgary, former Hockey Alberta U18 goalie, coach in the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League. My other highlight: I got to see my goalie idol Cary Price!
  • Camp/Event
  • CHE Just for Girls Elite Camp
  • 7/20/15 to 7/24/15
  • Playing hockey in Banff. Beautiful. Great experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • Midget B Provincial Tournament
  • 3/19/15 to 3/22/15
  • I got to play in Game 4 of round-robin play as the backup goalie for the Olds Grizzlys Midget team as they had secured their place in the playoffs with 3 straight wins. We won game four, 5 - 3; so my first win as a Midget came while I was a 14-year-old Bantam. The Midgets also lost in the semi-final game, as my Bantam team had the week before.
  • Camp/Event
  • Bantam B Provincial Tournament
  • 3/12/15 to 3/15/15
  • For the first time since I started playing hockey, the Olds Grizzlys of my age division made it out of the pool to the semi-final round. We were defeated after a triple overtime after an exhausting back-and-forth game. Our team had fielded 11 skaters and a single goalie - me - the entire season and pushed Tier 1 teams to these kinds of finishes throughout. While it wasn't a record-breaking season, my development progressed hugely with the level of competition we faced.
  • Camp/Event
  • CHE Just for Girls Elite Camp
  • 7/21/14 to 7/25/14
  • My first CHE camp: I had the thrill of being coached by Charlene Labonté and see her Olympic gold medal.
  • Camp/Event
  • Coeur d'Alene & Seattle Academies in Kimberley
  • Dates subject to change. Home-at-home-at-home series between Coeur d'Alene Academy, Seattle Academy and Kimberley Academy. Kimberley Academy split their 4 games in Coeur d'Alene September 15 - 17.

  • Tournament with Coeur d'Alene Academy, Seattle Academy and Kimberley Academy. This tournament will also have Vancouver Island Seals attending. UPDATED DECEMBER 3: TOURNAMENT CANCELLED. TO BE RESCHEDULED FOR 2018.
