Personal Statement
My goal is to play ice hockey at the most athletically and academically challenging university I can find. I have earned my successes through hard work - both my 5.029 GPA and my national championship with my team in 2021 where I was the 3rd highest scorer in the tournament.
On the ice I describe myself as a hard working winger who can rocket shots in from far out or fight to get dirty goals in close with my stickhandling and placement for rebounds. This summer you will find me in the gym at least 6 times a week working to build muscle in order to win puck battles and be a stronger skater. I will be shooting and stickhandling in the garage for at least an hour everyday because repetition and technique lead to confidence and consistency on the ice. Lastly, I will be getting all of the available times I can find at stick and pucks, skating lessons, the roller rink, and traveling to showcases. I understand that a team is reliant on every player’s abilities, so when putting in individual work, it will ultimately help the team.
These commitments set me apart from others because, although I didn’t start hockey until I was 11 years old, I have been able to improve quickly through my work ethic and response to coaching. These commitments also allow me to be a good leader by example. I am very team-oriented, always looking to set up a play or support my teammates. I get along really well with all of my teammates because of my positive attitude and ability to own up to and fix mistakes when I make them knowing that hockey is a game of mistakes.
