I started playing ice hockey at age 11 after trying almost every sport, and fell in love with it from the first day on the ice. Hockey has given me hope and strength in times I need it the most. In it I have found friendships that are going to last forever as well as the feeling of belonging. When I'm on the ice all of my stress and nervousness goes away and I focus on having fun and doing my best.
For me hockey is the missing puzzle piece in my life. Before hockey I felt like I was lost. I didn't know what I wanted to do for a career or even just for fun. I was still searching for the puzzle piece. We all know the disappointment we have when we realize we are missing pieces to a puzzle. Yet when we find that piece all of our stress and anxiety goes away. With hockey all of the problems in the outside world disappear When I found hockey I felt complete and I realized that the sport of hockey is what I want to be a part of for the rest of my life. My goal for hockey is to be able to compete at the highest level I can, and to not waste any opportunity.
When I get old I want to be able to hang up my skates and feel like I changed the game in some way, like I gave back to the girls who come after me. I am grateful for the skill and opportunity to play and can't wait to see what the future holds.
