Baeza Demeke '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Baeza Demeke and I am an eleventh-grader at the Academy of the Holy Cross, in Kensington, Maryland. I am writing to you because I am interested in playing women's Ice Hockey while attending a university. I know that playing in college is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I have played since ninth grade and hockey has taught me leadership skills, but also how to communicate on and off the ice. I have been figure skating for about 15 years which has given me basic skating skills and control. I take my time, think quickly, and run the plan in my head before making a pass or shooting a goal. As only a sophomore I made varsity my first year. I can play any position, I am usually a right or left wing but my coaches sometimes move me to play defense, and I have gotten the opportunity to play all positions besides goalie. I currently just finished playing for a women's summer high school league and plan to possibly try to play club in the future. During the school year, I am committed to keeping up my studies while balancing ice hockey and other sports. I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the ice. I am open to all options and ultimately want to find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible while it is academically challenging me. Again, I am very interested in playing ice hockey in college and thank you so much for taking your time and for allowing me to introduce myself.
