My name is Avery Olson and I am a junior at Tabor Academy. I am the starting goaltender for the girls varsity ice hockey team. Tabor Academy has a highly competitive team competing in the NEPSAC where I get to play with and against some of the area's best hockey players. The past two years I attended Northfield Mount Hermon where I averaged 50 shots per game (92 SV%) over the two seasons. I decided to transfer to Tabor Academy to continue my prep school career for multiple reasons, but most importantly due to the fact that there was a chance NMH would not have enough girls to field a competitive varsity team.
I grew up in Rockport, Massachusetts playing hockey, lacrosse and even danced competitively for four years. In addition to playing ice hockey, I also play varsity field hockey and lacrosse at NMH. Hockey is my love, playing co-ed hockey and girls club hockey and now at the challenging prep level. I feel strongly that being a multi-sport athlete has been beneficial in my development at the goaltending position.
Off the ice and field, I enjoy babysitting, traveling and exploring new cities, and volunteering for various local non-profits. In the classroom, I have found myself interested in science and math subjects, which I would like to explore further in college while participating in a highly competitive collegiate hockey program.
