Personal Statement

One of my top goals today is to leave an impact on the Burnsville Hockey Program.  We were Section Champions and State participants my sophomore year, Conference Champions my junior year, and my goal is to help our team go back to State next season.   I work hard to earn the respect of the younger players, and want them to remember me as a role model on and off the ice.  I want to build strong friendships, but at the same time, work hard and improve my hockey skills.  I believe it is very important to be a team player - and be positive at all times. This year, I was committed myself to becoming the best 200-foot player on the team.  This means I had to be an unselfish player, who focused on backchecking and forechecking as much as scoring points.  I improve my individual skills by dedicating time to working out, shooting pucks, and stickhandling.

Outside of hockey, I am a student with good grades. I am proud to say I am a member of Student Council, and National Honor Society at my school as well. I love helping people out and making new friends. I also play Varsity soccer at the high school.   As a multi-sport athlete, and a high-achieving student, I have had many opportunities, faced different challenges, and have become a smarter, more resilient, hard working, and well-rounded person.  For next year, I was chosen to be a captain for both the soccer and hockey teams.

I feel that I would be an excellent teammate in college, because I bring the energy and dedication it takes to succeed.   I go to practice with a mindset of "I want to get better today" and I encourage my teammates to try their best as well.   I'm a very competitive player, I hate to lose - but it does happen, and when it does, I come back harder the next game and I try to adjust my game and improve in whatever area I need to work on.  I am in constant pursuit of being the best I can be.  I have high expectations of myself and those around me, and I always try to encourage and inspire others in leading by example and having a positive attitude.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
