I founded my high school girls hockey team. In our first season I scored 14 goals in 10 games and I was assistant captain of the team as a sophomore . I started organizing in 7th grade and It took 3 years of pushing for it to finally become a varsity sport! It started by “7th grade me“ asking my high school athletic director what I needed for a team. He told me I needed 10 girls, 2 goalies, and two coaches. I came back a week later with all of those things. My athletic director kept giving me lists of things to do, including funding, and I completed every single one. My freshmen year of high school was our first year and we were just a club but it was a step! Then the following year (my sophomore year) we had our first varsity season. I loved youth hockey, but fighting for our high school team brought it to a new level. Sharing my love of hockey with 20 additional girls who were learning hockey expanded my joy and love of this game. I would like to continue playing for the next four years after high school.
I am a 3 season sport high school athlete. I play volleyball, lacrosse, as well as hockey. I believe multi sport athletes are more well rounded. I have learned things in my others sports that have translated and helped me with hockey. For instance, volleyball made my strong legs even stronger and has given me more exploding strength.
My style of play is one of strength. I have a powerful stride and high hockey IQ. For my high school team I played defense most of the time in 2022-2023 season but started at center in our last 2 games and my coach says this is where I will play next season. This experience will make me an even better player because I am viewing the game from a different angle.
