My name is Genevieve (Evie) Rothenburg and I am a 2007-born (2025 grad) forward who plays on the Greenfoot Capitals U18AAA team in Nova Scotia.
I am in my third season with the Greenfoot Capitals and this season I am an Assistant Captain with my team. I play a key leadership role and play on the power play. The Capitals play in the U18 AAA Maritime Major Female Hockey League which includes nine teams from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. My team will also be playing in the Two Nations Cup in Brampton, Ontario (December 6-8, 2024) and the Ottawa Lady Senators Winterfest (January 12-14, 2025).
Standing at 5’9 and weighing 160 lbs, I am a forward with an excellent scoring ability and a strong, fast physical game, making me a challenging opponent. I diligently backcheck, cover defense, and communicate effectively. As a key leader, I contribute significantly to the power play. I pride myself on being a supportive teammate and cherish the guidance and support from my coaches. Over my first two seasons with the Capitals, I netted 25 goals, securing the third-highest tally on my team during that period.
Some of my accomplishments include winning the 2024 Hockey Nova Scotia Bill Riley Award as a player of African heritage who shows dedication to hockey. I have also won gold at the 2022 Atlantic Challenge Cup as a member of the Nova Scotia U16 team, and receiving invitations to the 2024 Team Nova Scotia U18 tryouts and the 2023 Team Atlantic U18 High Performance Camp.
I am in grade 12 at Citadel High School in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In the past I received High Honors and I am working hard to achieve this distinction again.
This past summer, I attended dryland training five days a week and was on the ice several days each week with high level U18 and college level players. This helped me work on my skills and increase my speed and endurance. I also played soccer this summer with my local U18 AA club team called Inter Halifax.
I am looking for a great opportunity to play hockey after high school and I hope you consider me throughout your recruiting process.
Thank you,
Evie
