My name is Mackenzie Williams, and here are some things that I consider important to know about me. I have been playing ice hockey for over 10 years, and I have always wanted to continue playing when I went away to university. I am a dedicated teammate, friend and athlete even when it's challenging, and my perseverance throughout these times has allowed me to become the person I am today. I strive to make my teammates feel appreciated and connected within my team. Off the ice, I am a social, friendly and approachable teammate, and I show respect to my team and my coaches at all times. Practices have always been important to me because it gives me an opportunity to try new things, experiment with different techniques, and most of all receive feedback from my coaches and teammates. Criticism and advice are the most important things to me as an athlete. I have found that receiving meaningful feedback has allowed me to grow and develop quickly as an athlete, and I am always looking to reflect back on my mistakes and weaknesses. At university, I am hoping to study in a field of Architecture. Since elementary school, I have always felt passionate about math and visual art. Architecture combines these two academic passions into one, allowing me to express my creativity while also using mathematics and physics to help bring my ideas to life. If there's one thing to take away from this statement, it's that I am a social and dedicated person, and I hope to find a school that can allow me to grow as a student athlete.
