Personal Statement
If I knew what hockey was when I was in 8th grade, I do not think I could even picture myself playing it. In 8th grade I went to a Hershey Bears game. I’ve been looking for a sport to play for a while. I’ve always wanted to prove that girls can be just as tough as guys. I decided I would try hockey. There’s been times where I just wanted to give up and quit; but something kept me going. I soon learned that I fell in love with the sport. Yes, I started extremely late, but I am so glad I decided to keep trying.
I think I am a good candidate because I will not give up even when times are rough. I always try to find new solutions to problems. I think what makes me different is that even though I joined the sport late in my childhood, I still have lots of heart for it. The love I have for the sport makes me want to keep trying and improving. One thing my mother told me that she loves about me is that even if I’m having a rough day I can always put a smile on my face and cheer others up. Even after a loss I could be the happiest kid in the world because I’m still blessed to be able to play. I think that this type of attitude could help improve the teams moral. I want to become a Registered Nurse so academics are very important to me. It would be a dream of mine to play some type of ice hockey after I graduate while pursuing my desired career.
