Emmie Wahlgren, Class of 2019, Center, 3.8 GPA, NHSS Member, 2 time All State Recipient, Zonta Club, Team Captain, Team USA Floorball World Championship Player...
My name is Emmie Wahlgren. I am passionate about hockey, but more so what I have learned from this sport. I have learned to give 100% and work hard when things get tough and about the rewards that come with that mindset. I have learned about conflict resolution, the value of maintaining a positive attitude for those around me, dedication, and goal setting. I look forward to applying these lessons to all areas of my college experience in the classroom, in meaningful relationships, and on the ice.
As team captain of both LAHC 19U and Team Wyoming 19UAA, I have learned that true leadership is not about me, but more about elevating my teammates and promoting unity among my team. It is a responsibiIity and a privilege, not just an accolade. I have had to work through two foot surgeries and other tough situations which I have found to be great opportunities to grow and push. I have been able to maintain strong stats as one of the top few players on my teams, and I am thankful.
My experiences in hockey have sparked an interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. I love the idea of helping others and promoting healing so that they too can succeed. I also love the outdoors. Climbing, tubing, skiing, and hiking are some of my favorite activities. I have been fortunate to grow up working in a year round youth camp setting alongside my parents. Not only has this fueled and taught me a strong work ethic, but has also taught me about being a well rounded individual with a strong faith.
