Personal Statement

My name is Lara Horeczko, I am graduating high school in 2026 and I currently attend Las Lomas HS in Walnut Creek, CA. I play midfield (primary), attack and back up goalie on my high school lacrosse varsity and club teams.   I have been a competitive athlete my whole life since the age of 4, when I joined my first swim team.  I continue to be a multi -sport athlete, but from the moment I picked up a lacrosse stick seven years ago, I knew this sport would become a defining part of my life. Starting on a developmental team, I worked tirelessly to refine my skills, eventually earning a spot on a competitive travel team and becoming a varsity starter for my high school. Most recently, I was honored to be selected for the "First Team" in the high school Diablo Valley League in 2024, and again this year in 2025.  I was also named MVP for the Las Lomas HS varsity team. However, my growth as a player extends far beyond accolades; it is rooted in my relentless work ethic, leadership, and passion for the game.

Athleticism, speed, hand-eye coordination, and a strong lacrosse IQ define my playing style. I excel at draw control and ground balls, using my quickness and field awareness to create opportunities for my team. But my contributions go beyond physical ability—I take pride in being a vocal leader, ensuring my teammates are supported both on and off the field. I actively communicate during games, letting my teammates know when I am open and helping to direct play. Empathy and encouragement are central to my approach, as I believe a strong team dynamic is just as critical as individual performance.

My commitment to improvement is unwavering. I routinely arrive early and stay late at practice, pushing myself to become the best player I can be. I seek out feedback daily, speaking with my coaches about ways to elevate my game, and after every match, I stay back to discuss areas for growth. My experience playing travel lacrosse has further sharpened my skills, allowing me to bring new techniques and insights back to my high school team for the 2025 spring season.

Off the field, I challenge myself academically by taking AP courses ( AP Euro 10th grade, AP Psychology, AP English Language 11th grade and I will take AP Statistics, and AP Government in 12th grade)  while currently maintaining a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a 3.8 weighted GPA. Balancing rigorous coursework with my athletic commitments has strengthened my time management skills and resilience—qualities that I will carry with me at the collegiate level.

My teammates describe me as an intensely focused player with grit and integrity. I am eager to bring my tenacity, determination, and leadership to a collegiate lacrosse program. I am looking for a team that values hard work, teamwork, and continuous growth—qualities that define both my approach to the game and my personal character. I am ready to contribute, learn, and compete at the next level.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
