Maeve McCarthy '19 Recruiting Profile

Hi there! My name is Maeve McCarthy and I am a junior at Hanover High School in Hanover, MA. I am a lacrosse goalie and have been the starting varsity goalie since my freshman year. I am a hardworking, dedicated and coachable athlete who never gives up. In my junior season, I recorded a .549 save percentage and made 220 saves. I was also named a Patriot League All-Star for the second time and was named a Captain for the 2019 season. My team and I made it to the South Sectional Semifinals, which is the furthest the program has ever gotten. In my sophomore season, I recorded 189 saves and a .510 save percentage. I was also named as a Patriot League All-Star. In my freshman season, my team won the Fisher Conference and we were South Sectional Quarterfinalists.

I hope that I will be able to play lacrosse at a competitive level while receiving a great education. In my sophomore year, I took 4 honors classes and an AP U.S. History course. I received a 4 on my AP exam. This past year, I was enrolled in 3 honors classes and 2 AP courses (AP English and AP World History). I received a 3 on my AP English exam and a 4 on my AP World History exam. Due to my success on my AP exams, I received an AP Scholar Award for 2018. Next year, I plan on taking AP Spanish, AP Psychology, AP Literature, AP Government and Politics, Honors Environmental Science, and Honors Calculus. I am currently ranked 17th in my class out of 223.

In my free time, I am an assistant coach to some of Hanover's youth lacrosse teams. I also help run the winter clinics alongside my teammates. I am dedicated to growing Hanover's Youth Lacrosse Program. I also am a Spanish tutor for at the middle school and I help out 1-2 times a week.
