At a young age, I suffered from severe migraines. There were times when I needed to be hospitalized for days at a time. Despite this debilitating condition, I learned to turn the challenges that came with my migraines into the drive to help others. Thus, I have chosen to pursue a career in Neurology. To help me achieve this goal, I have committed to getting into my high school’s selective STEM program. In addition, I was voted Vice President of the class of 2024 at my school. I was inspired to run for the position so that I could improve my leadership skills and help my fellow classmates. After high school, I hope to attend a college with outstanding academics to help prepare me for my graduate studies in medicine.
My leadership skills benefit me off and on the lacrosse field. As a midfielder I must use my communication skills to direct and bond with my teammates. I’ve learned through my leadership experiences that creating a trusting and secure environment can help a team grow and develop a connection. This has helped fortify my role as a teammate and leader. I have experience playing every position on the field and working with multiple teams, improving my ability to adapt and lead. Overall, my athletic and leadership skills paved the way for me to earn the 2020 Female Athlete of the Year award at my school. I hope my athleticism and leadership qualities will help earn me a spot on a lacrosse team at an excellent academic as well as competitive athletic undergraduate school.
