Personal Statement
I’m an athletic, shutdown defender who enjoys the game of lacrosse and plays it at high level. After spending the last five years on elite AAU basketball teams, I am now making lacrosse my priority sport, the sport I want to play at the highest level in college. I’m a player that welcomes competitive challenges that will grow my game. In the winter of my eighth grade year I tried out for the eighth grade boys travel basketball team and not only made the squad, but was the sixth player in an eleven person rotation. I saw meaningful minutes in every game and was able to impact the game on both ends of the court with steals, assists, and timely scoring against my much bigger and faster male opponents. I played on a second team that winter, choosing to go outside my suburban comfort zone, and playing in a competitive, inner city league with a team of girls that I had never met before. It was a great experience, both culturally and athletically. But playing AAU basketball since my middle school years has limited my time in club lacrosse to a spring season with Tri-State Lacrosse (NJ) in seventh grade. Despite my finite lacrosse experience, I claimed a starting varsity spot on defense as a freshman for Verona High School in the highly competitive Girls High School lacrosse landscape in New Jersey, and I believe my best lacrosse years are ahead of me as I now make it my primary focus.
Upon my high school graduation, I am seeking a competitive and successful college lacrosse experience that is paired with an outstanding academic environment. Earning varsity letters in both basketball and lacrosse while achieving honor roll in each marking period of my freshman and sophomore year, I’m confident that I am on the right track to be a key part of a successful college lacrosse program while achieving the high academic goals I set for myself.
