Personal Statement
Ever since I was little I was driven to play division 1 lacrosse at a university with great academics and a commitment to win. Playing on a team with some of the best athletes around the country will be a great experience. My goal is not only to grow as a athlete but also as a person. My cousin Tatum Coffey has worked with me every summer to prepare me to be the best I can be.
I always have been and will continue to be a great teammate. I am a leader on the field with my play not my mouth. I listen to the coach and will play the position that the coach thinks will be best for the team. I don't complain and am capable to play any position on the field.
Coming from a family that excels in academics and athletics has made me understand what it takes to perform at a high level. When my team loses a game i will never blame another but only think what I could have done better to help my team win. I feel I am always learning and really receptive to constructive criticism.
I have played multiple sports since i was 5 years old. I was pitcher in little league baseball, played 7 years AA ice hockey with the boys at defense, now play tier 1 ice hockey with the girls at center. I have played high level soccer at center mid since 5 years old and continue to play at my high school. Basketball is a sport that i played competitively since I was 6 years old at shooting guard. Lacrosse was the last sport I was introduce to at 7 years old , it combined all the sports I play together, speed agility, spacial awareness and great teamwork. Over the years the 4 sports conflicted with each other however I continue to play at a high level despite this. Now that I am in high school I will only play school soccer, school basketball or ice hockey and High School Lacrosse as well as club lacrosse. My parents always told me when I get to high school I would have to make a choice to concentrate on 1 sport. Lacrosse is a sport I enjoy the most and continue to grow and improve my game. I look forward to bring my skills and dedication to a division 1 lacrosse program.
Academics is very important to me. I have been in honors math since 5th grade, I am organized with all my homework and projects despite all the sports I play. I use my time efficiently because of my tight schedule and understand that my studies are of great importance. My goal in college is to be a scholar athlete and a academic all american.
