Hello, my name is Maya and I have been rowing since freshman year. I would like to row in college because for some reason I am in love with this sport. It's difficult and painful but while I row there is nothing but internal bliss. I would say I am a dedicated athlete. I work hard and I am competitive with myself and others. I would compare myself to the horse from the movie Seabiscuit, once he got close to a horse, he never let that horse beat him but instead used the competition to work for the win. I also feel like I am pretty coachable, I do work very hard to fix or adjust to what the coach says.
Academic wise, I'm a pretty good student. I know that the field I intend to go in is rigorous and it might pose difficulties when rowing in college, but I am determined to work hard for the two things I passion for.
