Personal Statement

My name is Lucie Smith and I am part of Darien High School's graduating class of 2026. I have been rowing competitively since 2021 and with each season I have been able to challenge myself more while being surrounded by an amazing team. During the summer season I take a break from rowing and have been a counselor at St.George Sailing for the past two years teaching racing and sailing in 420s and RS-Terra’s. Fun Fact: I hold the cleat-a-palooza record for fastest knot tying. Whether navigating the winds in Penobscot Bay or the currents on the Norwalk River, I continue to master speed on the water. With rowing, I am able to improve my strength physically and mentally, and I look forward to seeing what new challenges this season brings!
