My name is Sophia Mazzotta. I am a first generation American with and Estonian mom and a Sicilian father. I love music, animals, and crew! I want to become a physician when I grow up and take over my mom's solo plastic surgery practice.
I work hard for what I want. I have maintained High Honors standing starting first semester of middle school. I love to sing and play country songs on my guitar. I love playing in the MHS Marching band and enjoyed a recent trip to Disney World where we performed in the Magic Kingdom.
I competed in Cyclocross and Mountain Biking from 4th to 7th grade. I ran track in 8th grade. When I started MHS I joined the crew team. Finally I found a sport that showcases all my strengths! I am tall and strong and crew is competitive, fun, and outdoors on the river! At the end of first semester of crew, I was voted as the "New Liesner". He is the fastest boy on our team! On my good days, I can keep up with the best boys times!
Grades come first for me as I want to become a surgeon. But at least this year, crew has made studying easier as I seem to thrive under pressure and my mom has helped me with good time management! It has been quite hectic at times with crew practice every day after school, guitar and voice lessons twice a week, and marching band performances during school football games on the weekends! But I guess that is good practice for the rigors of college!
I am excited as I just signed up for a week of crew camp at Yale this summer! I believe everything happens for a reason, so I am not worried about my future. I will do the best I can and the rest will be in God's hands!
