I’ve only just begun competitive rowing starting just five months ago. Throughout my 15 years, I have participated in many sports and hobbies ranging from dancing, gymnastics to learning a variety of instruments. Always excelling at anything I do right from the start.
I decided to challenge myself and try something I had never done before, rowing. To my surprise, I was not automatically an amazing rower. Given I had never rowed before, It shouldn’t have surprised me that I wasn’t instantly the best. Rather than leave me discouraged or even slightly upset this is when I fell in love with rowing. A competitive fire was sparked within me I knew I needed to become extremely disciplined and determined to learn and excel within this sport in order to achieve levels I know I am capable of.
As a 15-year-old Junior and just starting to row, I am off to a late start perfecting this craft along with getting noticed for college. This has only made me a stronger contender for a spot on a collegiate rowing team as I not only practice 20 hours a week with my team I put in an additional ten hours on my own each week while maintaining a 3.6 GPA. I’m a quick and determined learner and I know my place on any collegiate team will be valued by both me and the team as I plan to pursue this passion for many years to come. Thank you for your time reading this and the consideration to join your team.
