My name is Rhiannon Hockey, I have been rowing since my 8th-grade year. I am a junior at Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri. When I attended the Sparks Boston University camp in the summer of 23, I fell in love with rowing. Rowing in Kansas City is small, and going to the camp opened my eyes to how big the rowing community is. This made me want to pursue the sport past high school and makes me excited about rowing in a bigger environment. I am a good team member because I bring a positive, ready-to-work attitude to every practice. I have played many sports throughout my life, such as lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and swimming, while still prioritizing my rowing. To improve my strength in the water I’ve stepped up my time in the weight room, lifting two times per week in addition to other training. A goal of mine is to get better on the erg, I erged for the first time in the 22-23 winter season and it wasn't my favorite but this winter season I want to push myself further and become better by dropping time. My personal goal is to 2k 7:30 by the beginning of my senior year, I hope to achieve this by working hard at home and in practice times.I am working to drop time in both my 6k and 2k.
