Personal Statement
Throughout my childhood, I never considered myself an athlete. Although, I was very driven and dedicated to ballet for ten years, I was never picked first in gym class for teams, and I was designated cheerleader for basketball games. I was always jealous of the athletic kids who won soccer games and wore matching sweatshirts to school. I never thought I could be part of a team sport, until I found rowing.
I love the teamwork and meaningful relationships built and realizing the collective gains from hard work and constantly fine-tuning technique found in the sport of rowing. My goal is to find a suitable school for myself, that supports my desire to row competitively and engage in a strong, academic health sciences program. Currently, my goal after undergraduate studies, is to continue my postgraduate education toward becoming a doctor. Rowing is not only a passion of mine, but I believe the skills and experiences developed from rowing, will support my academic and professional goals. To reach my goals, I need to have grit, know the value of details and in participating in a community that supports something greater than myself.
