I am Katie Skousen and I play Center Back for the NOS Santos FC Blue team. Last Fall I tore my ACL and I was devastated, but I worked incredibly hard to be able to return to the sport I love. While recovering from my injury I learned many valuable lessons, one of which is to never waste a second. Now that I have returned to play I create a new goal for myself each week to ensure I am at the top of my game.
All of my coaches have given me the compliment that I am very coachable. I believe that this is a crucial attribute both for soccer and in life. Something that sets me apart from other players is my ability to focus and apply what my coaches teach me. I pay very close attention to details so that I can be precise in following their instructions. I am the youngest of four children with all older brothers, which I believe has truly helped me navigate my life. I strive to be challenged, which could explain why I want to go into the medical field while playing a competitive college sport.
