Samantha Gamble '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Samantha Gamble, and have been playing competitive soccer for the last 8 years.  Though listed as a defense midfielder, I typically played multiple positions as needed by my coaches.  My position flexibility, leadership skills, and field awareness  are what set me apart.  This resulted in being named captain for multiple club teams, including GPS  G06 Discovery Flight 1 team from 2016 to 2018 as well as the South Slammers G06 Discovery  Team from 2018-2021.  In this time, I learned that leading by example is crucial, and it forces me to push myself even harder to be the best leader and teammate I can be.  

My competitive nature does not stop on the soccer field.  Despite a busy practice schedule, I enrolled in honors/AP courses and joined the High School lacrosse team earning my Varsity letter and being named 2nd team all league as a Freshman and first team all league as a sophomore.  Keeping a balance between academics and sports has been demanding at times, but I love the challenge.  I feel it's important to  constantly set new goals for myself to make myself better.  Despite challenging myself athletically and academically, I maintain a  GPA of 4.0.

Not only focusing on sports and academics, I enjoy other hobbies and activities. I draw and paint, even being mentioned on social media for some of my projects. I am taking advanced art and want to continue by taking AP art by the end of high school, creating an art portfolio that I will grow for college. I found art helped me through my own internal challenges, creating an outlet while  staying at home during the pandemic.

Once things started to go back to normal, and I could participate in soccer, I realized that I had to push myself harder than before. I began to train with my coach through private sessions and participated in almost every optional game and practice I could go to.  This drive gave me another valuable experience of learning how far I could push both my mind and body and the importance of nourishing both in a healthy balance.
