Grace Sloca '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Grace Sloca and I am a 2024 goalkeeper seeking the opportunity to continue my journey as a highly competitive goalkeeper throughout my college years.

I have been playing competitive soccer since I was 5.  For a few years, I was a starting defender for my teams. I have been the DK of my club team and school team since age 12.  I currently play for SaMoHi and Santa Monica Surf G2005/06 Blue.  My club team competes in the DPL/GA.  In June, my previous Surf team (2006 GBlue) placed second in the DPL National Finals in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have been recognized for top shutouts and named Defender/Best Defensive Player of the Year.  

Of course, I love the euphoria that comes from shutting down a goal or blocking what my opponent believes is a perfect shot.  However, I do believe one of my greatest strengths as a goalkeeper is my ability to bond with my teammates so that they trust my leadership and focus during the game.  They put their faith in my eyes on all aspects of the field.  I am there not just to bolster their spirits (when necessary), but also to see what they can't see and direct them to the most advantageous pocket.  We may be living very different everyday lives, but when we come together as a team on the field, they trust that I know each of them/their skills and they can rely on my direction.

I am excited about the opportunity to play college soccer as a goalkeeper and compete at that level.
