Charlotte Buterbaugh '23 Recruiting Profile

I can still vividly remember the moment I was hooked on soccer. I was four and my brother had made the decision to attend a town team training session for little kids. Me, being the stubborn child I was, threw a tantrum until I was allowed to go along. At that time I had no idea that I would be finding my passion for life. I had always had a curious mind and loved puzzles or other things that would keep my thoughts occupied. Soccer did exactly that. The strategy, the gameplay, my tiny brain absorbed it all.

Now that I'm older I still find myself equally as invested in the game. I spend several hours a day training and watch professional gameplay off the field. Having grown up as the smallest player on the field gave me the opportunity to become better at my 1v1 skills to get around players. After being a bench player on my club team my 7th grade year, I work hard to become a starter and top goal scorer for my team from then on. On my high school team my leadership abilities had led me to being names varsity captain and I was named 1st All-Conference Team for the SCC my freshman and sophomore year.

Using what I learned from soccer and applying it to my academics has given me a 4.79 weighted GPA and led me to succeed in my AP classes. I show the same resilience and ability to learn no matter where I am.
