Although I have played soccer since second grade, it was truly later on in my career that I really became invested in the sport. My eighth grade year I started my current school and played for our team. During our practices I would watch the high school team play and I was mesmerized, I wanted to be just like them. They motivated me to raise the standards of myself, and they encouraged me to become a better player. Using that motivation I have proved myself to my coaches and have been the title captain of our varsity team. Since the first time I saw the older girls practice I have learned that if I set a standard for myself there is no stopping me from reaching it.
This behavior also shows in my academics. My academic career has been of utmost importance to me, and I have put dedication in being the best I can be to attend a high academically selective school. The goals I have set for myself in high school have been to graduate with completing AP, Honors, and Dual Enrollment classes, which I have done and continue to fulfill. I want to graduate in the top 10 of my class, and become president of the National Honor Society. As someone who has difficult goals to achieve I feel lots of stress and have gone through a struggling mental health. It made me lose my confidence and motivation for all the things I was passionate about. Thankfully I have been able to overcome it. Even though I still have those moments where I do not feel like myself, I have learned not to let it cripple me. Many people may find being stubborn to be a negative quality, but I found it helps me to not back down from a challenge. It is also important to me that I stay encouraging to not only myself but to the people around me, especially my teammates.
