Personal Statement

My love for soccer began when I was just 5 years old. My parents signed me up for the youngest soccer team at our local YMCA. I loved the sport immediately. Over the years I have inquired tips and helpful criticism from both trainers and coaches. It has all made me a better person and even better player.

My goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level. I prefer to play forward or right defender, but I am willing to play wherever the coach needs me the most. I would be a good candidate for your team because I do not play for myself, I am humble and play for my team, which makes me a great team player. I take criticism very well and simply use it to improve my skills. I am also very fast and have a hard shot. I am nowhere near the soccer player I want to become, but that will come in time with more practice and playing up with better players. When I am determined, I can do anything I put my mind to. I recently became a USSF certified referee and enjoy working with and watching the youth learn to love this sport.

She often displays the kind of leadership that improves her teams performance level. She possesses skills and physical abilities that garner the attention of those that watch her play. She is the type of athlete that a team can be built around. Her venerabilities can be coached up. Her consistency for maintaining an elite level of play sometimes fluctuates, although I’d say she is a performer that typically meets the challenge. Training

  • Recommendation Letter
  • 7 years
  • Recommendation Letter - Dear Admissions Committee, I had the pleasure of coaching Katelyn Ladner during her time as a soccer player at both Effingham and Savannah United Soccer Clubs. From the start, Katelyn impressed me with her ability to articulate difficult concepts and strategies concerning game principles and tactics. Her passion for sport drives her competitive nature and desire to perform above the rest. Katelyn is a talented player and someone driven to succeed. She has my highest recommendation as an athlete of character, intelligence, and leadership. Katelyn is accomplished at managing a high standard for academics while simultaneously balancing recreational activities. When called upon to give her time towards the development of youth soccer players, Katelyn volunteered to become a licensed referee. Katelyn has become a familiar face within her community and has had a positive impact on her teammates and also the younger athletes she has helped teach along the way. She’s someone that has gained the experience of uniting people of diverse backgrounds towards a common goal. Throughout the years, Katelyn has always achieved “on the field” success, but more importantly is the example she has set as a woman of integrity and ethics. These qualities make her highly respected and a role model to those that have crossed her path. Katelyn was a key participant in progression of soccer in the community and its soccer clubs. Her volunteer efforts as an official provided for the expansion of youth sports. She has always been very supportive of her peers and coaches. Her caring nature and personality allowed her to work well with others in a team setting, always respectful of the opinions of others even when they differed from her own. When debatable topics emerged, Katelyn could be looked to as a convergent thinker, someone that would view the issues from a new perspective, and gain a clearer sense of the issue from all angles. She is a remarkable person that demonstrates an openness to and empathy towards the opinions, feelings, and perspectives of others, along with shrewd powers of observation, all qualities that make her an outstanding student and leader. I am certain that Katelyn is going to continue to do great and creative things in her future. I highly recommend her for acceptance into your program. She is talented, caring, intuitive, dedicated, and focused in her pursuits. The impressive characteristics she displays are rare in a high school student. Katelyn is truly a stand-out individual who will impress everyone she meets. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at [email protected]. Sincerely, Robert C.
