I started playing soccer at a young age and at the time it was just what all my friends were doing. After transferring to a team whose coach was a Retired Military Veteran, I soon found my love of soccer and being pushed to my limits. My coach taught me how soccer is more than skill, it's mental strength, heart, and passion for the game itself. I realized at that point that I wanted to play college soccer and continue to be pushed to be a better person on and off the field.
Soccer has been a sanctuary for me when other things in life weren't working out. I knew that no matter what was going on in my academics, social or family life, that I'd always have soccer to turn to. It's taught me how to be patient with myself and others. I've learned a lot about my own talents through it and also my faults. Overall, soccer has gave me the best experiences and opportunities out of anything I could think of.
