Rebekah Burkhart '20 Recruiting Profile

First thing first, I want to start with a personal thank you for spending your time viewing my profile. 

I have been playing year round sports ever since I can remember. In grade school and Junior High it was Volleyball and Basketball teams and during the summer months, soccer. I feel those early years helped shaped me into what I am today. 

Those early lessons were further polished as a freshman on the Volleyball and JV Soccer teams. That year I learned the true meaning of teammate as a backup JV Goalie and that with heart, and determination my time would come.  As a result, I pushed myself harder and was selected to play up a year on the Troy Fire FC Club soccer team. During my time on Fire FC I received more in-depth Goalkeeper training from Jamie Swanner, Core trainer and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Elite Goalkeeper academy. I also changed my focus to solely playing Soccer. As a result I became the JV Goalkeeper and made varsity my junior year. That determination and desire to learn followed me this year as the Goalkeeper for the Alton Fighting Irish FC where Jamie Swanner is the trainer.  

I fully recognize the level of dedication, teamwork, and commitment it takes to compete at the highest levels while sustaining high academic standards. I know I can do it and with the tools I have been given and skills I have developed with 4 years of Club and high school soccer, I "can" make an impact
