“Soccer is a game played between two teams, with a round ball that the players are trying to score into the opposing teams net.” This is the definition of soccer from Google. Soccer has a totally different meaning to me. It means putting in hard work, and working in the offseason, perfecting the skills you already know but also learning new ones. Soccer means learning to work together as one unit, to trust your teammates, know your teammate's strengths and weaknesses, and learning how to work with other individuals. It also means knowing yourself, knowing your own personal strengths and weaknesses, knowing which situations you should put yourself in to based on what will benefit the team the most. Soccer also gives me new opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. This is my definition of soccer. Since I have been playing this sport since I was three years old, I know that playing soccer comes with a lot more than just winning and losing. It comes with quick decision making, as well as, taking responsibility for your own actions; plus, holding your teammates accountable on and off the field, and being respectful to your coaches, referees, and teammates, as well as the opponents. I have been playing soccer for 15 years now and besides my grades, it is the most important thing to me. I want to further my soccer career by taking it to the next level, by playing in college.
