Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Lily Shield and I want to continue to play soccer in college and after I graduate. I plan to go to school for environmental science and conservation. I am interested in this field because I believe that I can make a difference and help end our country's environmental crisis.
I have played soccer since I was a toddler and became a goalie at age 8. I tried basketball and gymnastics in elementary school, but always came back to soccer. In 3rd grade I started to play indoor and have played year round ever since. I started in parks, then moved to a club league, then in 6th grade I joined the Eclipse Premiere League and played for both teams until the summer before my freshman year. I love to play for both girls and co-ed teams, and will help out in pick-up games for any team needing a keeper. I feel confident in jumping onto a team and playing hard to win. As a high school freshman, I played varsity goalie in most games for the 2018 season. I enjoyed the opportunity, and it helped me to stay in the varsity position throughout my whole sophomore season in 2019.
I am currently playing with Indiana Elite FC, and will continue with them until the high school season starts again.
I have played on teams where we lost every game throughout the season, but have also played for teams that were number 1 in the gold division. All of the different skill levels I have encountered have made me the player I am today.
