Aspen Wilson clas...Personal Statement
Hi my name is Aspen Wilson. I began attending Free State High School as a freshman beginning in August 2018. Playing soccer has helped me form life long friendships and taught me how to be a good teammate and leader. As I look to the future I am hopeful to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level not only because I love competing, but to help me continue to build characteristics that will help me succeed in all areas of my life.
Don't overlook what I can bring to your team when you see my size. What you may think I lack in size I make up for in excellent technical ability and tactical knowledge. I have played every position in my youth career. In 2017 and 2018 I became a shutdown defender playing the number 2 on my Club team. In 2019 I was asked to be the starting left wing for my Club team which I was excited to play. I continue to primarily play at the 11. I regularly play against players that are larger and stronger, but I use my intelligence to find success. I was excited to score 1 of my team's 2 goals to advance my team to the Kansas State Cup semifinals for 2020-2021.
As a freshman at Free State High School I was placed on the varsity team. After playing 1 JV game and part of 1 varsity game I secured a spot as a starting midfielder on varsity. Unfortunately I missed my entire sophomore season due to Covid 19. Despite missing my sophomore season I have continued to work hard with my Club team, and I will be excited to get back on the field with my high school teammates in early 2021.
Academics and being involved at school are very important to me. My current GPA is 4.0 and my goal is to maintain good grades and a high GPA. I have a love for soccer, but I am well rounded and find enjoyment in many other areas of my life.
I am looking for a college that I will benefit from both athletically and academically. A place where I will be challenged and where I will make lasting friendships.
