Personal Statement

My name is Gabryella Duerson and I have lived in Richmond Kentucky my entire life. While I was growing-up my family traveled around to different places to expose me to other cultures. We went on school trips to New York City,  cheerleading competitions every weekend around the region and vacations to Hawaii, Los Angeles and Texas. I loved traveling when I was little and the love has only increased as I have grown. When my youth ministry started going on mission trips I was the first to sign up. Now after 6 years I'm still going strong and I have learned to love each mission trip more and more not because I get to travel but because of the work we do. After each week is done and all the hard work is over, or when you are able to see how your hard work helped; is the real reason I keep going back each year. The mission trips made my grow closer to my church and got me really involved. I'm  apart of the Student Leadership Team, Leader of the Teen Praise Band, and apart of the Adult worship team playing guitar, bass, drums and vocals. With the hard work ethic that I learned from my family and the never give-up mind set I learned from church are things I put in my everyday life. So when I'm playing music, soccer, or basketball I understand what it means to be a team player, how important it is to complete the mission and how each and every task is for a greater purpose. My goals for college are to major in pre-medicine and become an Emergency Room doctor or surgeon.
