Personal Statement
My name is Taylor Oranellas and I am a junior attending Yarmouth High School, with a strong love for soccer. I am a central attacking midfielder for my high school and club teams. I was recently selected for the Maine Footy reserve team which is part of the UWS, United Woman’s Soccer league.
In 2023, I was voted onto the Maine Soccer coaches Regional All-Star team and onto the Western Maine All-Conference 1st team. My team high school repeated as Class B state champions in 2023.
I started every game sophomore year, playing center mid, and my team finished as class B Maine State Champions In 2022
Freshman year I was a starter on varsity and won the rookie of the year award as the attacking center mid.
My parents played soccer in college, and have taught me the sport that I have come to love. Starting at 5 years old, my appreciation and proclivity towards the sport has increased every day since. I am a hard worker, who is always working towards a better version of myself. I create motivation and dedication with my own discipline, each day aspiring to be better than I was yesterday.
This behavior proves just as strong in school. Academics are very important to me. Throughout my freshman, sophomore and junior years, I have been on high honor roll, maintaining a very high point grade average alongside clubs and sports.
I have been a top player for my highly-ranked high school team and on the Seacoast United Elite DPL team. I was selected to be a part of the Seacoast United Regional Northeast 06 team. I am a player who will adapt to any circumstance, and do what’s best for the team.
I will play with anyone and everyone, desiring to make my teammates better through each of my actions. Soccer is a huge part of my life, and I strongly hope to continue to play at the collegiate level.
