Hello Coaches!
You’ve probably read the same intro many times. You’ve seen the players from well-known places, you’ve seen the multi-sport athletes, you’ve seen the players with a variety of medals and ribbons, but let me tell you about me, let me tell you what makes me special.
My name is Brooke Bailey, I’m from Winnipeg, Manitoba which is not commonly known for producing soccer greats, well save for the amazing Desiree Scott of course! This year my team won the 2022 Canadian National Championship in P.E.I., October 5th to 10th. Nationals taught me so much as a player; where I could improve, the type of environment I thrive in, resilience, determination, and so much more.
I am resilient and I never give up, even when times are at their hardest. One of my proudest achievements was when I was invited onto the U17 FC Manitoba program in early August of 2022. I had formerly been declined in March, though I was determined to get on the team ever since that day. Throughout the summer I improved my skills and grew to be a dangerous attacker. As shown, I never gave up and when I didn’t get the result I wanted, I worked harder.
Coaches have described me as a player with tenacity and a fearless attitude on and off the field. I am not afraid to drive to the net and create my own opportunities. Last season, including tournaments and league games, I scored 24 goals total. I take players on and try new things on the field, although I am also smart when it comes to finding the pass. One strength I’ve always possessed is my ability to cross the ball. I create many opportunities by finding the pass to my teammates and I have been told that I make smart decisions when it comes to keeping the ball or passing it on.
Academically, I have always been a competitive student. I attend one of the top private academic schools in the Province. For the past 4 years I have been on the Heads Honour Roll, which recognizes students with averages above 90. I finished last year with a 94% and was honored with the Debate and French award. In the previous year I was awarded the River Bend School Sports Trophy which signifies my athletic abilities in multiple sports balanced with my academics. I have also won the Junior Athlete of The Year award. This was presented to the student with the most outstanding athletic abilities throughout the grade 8 year.
I keep a season goal sheet on my wall which helps me stay focused on the task at hand. This upcoming season I’d like to work on being a more consistent player, increasing my threat as an attacker and further increasing my total goals and assists.
In conclusion, I have a work-hard attitude, I am a team player and try my best to create a positive environment for myself and others. I not only work hard in soccer, I maintain excellent grades and lead a balanced lifestyle. There you have it, that’s me! I hope you consider me as your next team player!
