As I reflect back on my entire life, soccer has been the core of it all. Playing soccer since the age of 8, I have learned and honed in on the elements of the sport that apply to not only the field but in my everyday life as well. Soccer helped me to succeed on the field, in education, and in life. On the field, soccer has taught me that one must be strategic, courageous, and persistent in order to succeed. In education, soccer has taught me that what matters most in life is what happens behind the scenes. Meaning, the work you put in to enhance your skills on your own time, will help you to excel. It takes more than just completing the basic requirements. If you want to succeed in life, you have to go above and beyond. Now when it comes to life, soccer has taught me how to be an all around team player. Being someone that my teammates can count on during a game, has taught me that in life, you should be ready and prepared to be there for those you care about. People should be able to count on you to not only do your part, but to be an effective team member that can set them up to succeed as well. You should also be able to count on yourself, to be ready for when the right opportunity presents itself.
As a junior, I am in the early stages of planning for my future. It is my goal to get accepted into an exceptional college with exceptional benefits. Being not only a high performing student but also a high performing soccer player. I am looking for the perfect institution where I can combine both of my skills. My ultimate goal is to become a successful Engineer. I know that in order for me to achieve any of my goals, I must be prepared. This is why I am currently a student of Project Lead the Way, a program that is a hands-on, project-based engineering curriculum with biomedical science courses for high schoolers. In this program, I work vigorously to explore the principles of engineering. Not only will I receive an engineering foundation upon graduation, but also college credits which can be applied to my college career. This experience will allow me to map out my college career. I am a true believer of “ If you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail”. I am preparing to win, so I am setting the foundation for my future now.
