Hi, My name is Skyler Rudinski. I am currently 17 years old and a Junior at Quabbin Regional High School in Barre, Massachusetts. I am a Goalkeeper, and I have played soccer since I was four and began club at ten. Over the last six years, I played with the same club team even after the team switched clubs many times, advancing from Boston Breakers to FC Boston to FC Stars. However, last year I took a big step leaving this team (FC STARS) upon being recruited by a team that was more equivalent to my playing level and offered a better environment to develop as a soccer player. Now, I currently play for New England Surf 2004 State Sky, and while this team has been a big change for me, I have enjoyed it as it has placed more pressure on me. Not only offering many more challenges but also allowing me to become a better player by taking me out of my comfort zone. Teaching me, I am capable of many more things than I believed.
Over the last two years and especially during the height of COVID, I have learned soccer is something I can't live without and would like to pursue at the collegiate level. I am looking for an encouraging environment while also offering me challenges to continuously grow as a person and an athlete. Over the years, I have learned I play best under pressure, and the challenges of collegiate-level soccer will offer me this.
Although soccer is essential to me, my academics are just as important. As a student-athlete, soccer provides me with the structure that keeps me on task to do my best in an academic setting. I am always striving to do my very best in school and maintain my grades. This being said, I take great pride in my grades and currently have a 4.3 GPA, and was just recently inducted into the National Honor Society, which is something I have worked very hard for. Going into college, I am very interested in pursuing the Nurse Practitioner track specifically through an accelerated program, and believe that continuing soccer at a collegiate level will allow me to be the driven student I am by providing the challenge and structure that I thrive on.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.
Sincerely,
Skyler Rudinski
