Hello! My name is Kylie Madeiros, and I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. Since a young age, I have accomplished many goals in many aspects of my life and have always been ambitious. 2015 was a year full of opportunities for me, as it was the year I decided to join FCUSA soccer club. At first, I was placed on the 4th team of 4 teams, but quickly the coaches saw my hard work paying off and my skills improving. They soon moved me all the way to the first team. After being successful for many years, one big obstacle got in my way. I was diagnosed with severe Lyme disease. It took several years to recover and work my way back up to peak athletic performance. This challenge only made me stronger, and I can proudly say that I have fully recovered from Lyme disease. Challenges like these do not control my life. I learned through my experience with Lyme disease that if you want something enough you have to work for it. After persevering for so long, my experiences have made me stronger than ever before. This year I in soccer accomplished so much. I made the varsity team as a sophomore and started by the end of the season, starting in the Division 2 State Championship Game. Like everything in my life, I have had to work hard to be successful. These qualities of determination and diligence are qualities that I take with me in everything I do, including playing soccer. I plan on working hard throughout high school, college, and eventually, at my future career. I would also like soccer to continue to be a part of what shapes my life through college and beyond as well. I hope to do great things in the future and not let anything slow me down.
