My name is Alexandra Wilbanks, but I go by Alex. I am from Ypsilanti, Michigan and I will graduate from Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti in 2014.
I am a 5'5", 130 pound left midfielder or left forward, depending on what formation our team is playing. I also started to play left back last year and I like playing there as well. I am a natural left footer, so I am most comfortable playing on the outside, usually on the left side. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. I started in a rec league and then moved to club soccer when I was 8 years old, playing for the Canton Celtic (U9-U10), Michigan Jaguars (U11-U14) and Waza FC (U15-U16). My U9-U13 teams played in the highest division of our league in Michigan and starting at U14 we played in the Midwest Regional League where I have played for the last 3 years. I have played in lots of high level tournaments (including Score at the Shore, Jefferson Cup and Mead Cup) and have made it as far as the semi-finals of the Michigan State Cup Tournament. I made the decision to continue to play for my club team instead of my high school team during my freshman year, but I played for my high school team this spring as a sophomore. During my sophomore high school season I was the top goal scorer on my team (13 goals) and I also received 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-Area honors. I am a starter on the varsity team and hope to be a good leader and contribute as much as I can throughout my high school career. I finished my sophomore year at Lincoln High School with a 3.8/4.0 GPA and I ranked 20 out of 346 in my class. I am taking college prep classes and will try to take as many honors and AP classes as I can in the next few years. I plan to take the ACT and SAT tests in the fall of my junior year. In college I hope to major in a health-related field like physical therapy or athletic training. It has been my dream to play soccer in college. Soccer has been such a big part of my life that I want to play as long as I can. I am very dedicated and hard working and I feel like I have the skills to play in college. I love to train at a high level and compete in games and hang out with my soccer teammates since they truly are my second family! My goal is to try to find a college where I can contribute to the success of the soccer team and also find a good fit academically and socially.
