Hannah Powell-Yost '13 Recruiting Profile

I'm Hannah Powell-Yost, and my life and schedule basically revolves around soccer. I have been playing since I was five years old, and I have always loved the competition, improving my skills, and the general game. As for competition, I played on a recreational team every year since I first began playing, except during a move across the country when I was seven. When I was ten, I began playing all-star for SMSC at the end of the rec seasons; this differed one year during seventh grade when I played for GCUFC, a "select" or "travel" team. I starred on our junior high team at Harrison Central during middle school, and now do the same for varsity as well as junior varsity. I (and previous coaches and teammates) would consider dribbling, shooting, accuracy, and marking a player to be my strongest points, along with speed and endurance, as I run varsity cross country as well. I am 5' 5" and about 120 pounds. I am often commended on my initiative and heart, not only in soccer and my team, but also in day-to-day life. I do not have much of a preference as to the size of the college I attend, as long as it offers a good athletic department and my topics of study (I most likely am looking towards psychology and creative writing). Honestly, my family probably will need financial aid when I go off to college. My athletic goals all summed up into one goal would go something like this: "My dream is to play soccer in college, anywhere from preferably DI to DIII, where I will be able to get sufficient playing time along with competition and good coaching, while studying the major I plan to utilize after college."
