Personal Statement
My love for soccer comes from playing with a team that helps fuel my competitive nature. I really enjoy being part of an aggressive and hard working team who is focused on accomplishing a common goal. Competing with and against other aggressive girls helps me focus on what I need to do better for the team as a whole. Sophie Clough was an assistant at the University of Montana and is now an assistant for the Portland Thorns in Oregon. She was my very first serious club coach who I was lucky to have for four years. She really sparked my passion for the sport of soccer. Positioning in space, focus on passing, ball control, and quick heads up plays were the main focuses of our practices. This style of of play really enabled me to progress in the sport. I learned that communication is very important as an individual and the team as a whole. Listening to coaches and teammates has helped me become a better player and contribute to the overall success of the team. I have learned to embrace the physicality and pressure situations in the sport of soccer by participating in sports like basketball and wrestling. These sports taught me how to utilize my body to better position myself on the field. One of my better skills is my ability to complete controlled and accurate passes. Although goals win games, great assists make those goals possible. My great work ethic has helped me become the athlete I am today. I feel that I am very coach-able and I always strive to listen and improve upon what my coaches and teammates tell me.
