Personal Statement
I was taught that you had to be dedicated and work hard for anything you wanted to achieve in life. I watched my older sister achieve a dream of hers by being recruited for her passion of softball at the college level coming from an extremely small school this is almost impossible. I hope to show my younger sister that you can overcome obstacles such as I have. I have dealt with permanent partial hearing loss to play six varsity sports and maintain a high grade point average.
My parents and school district have been extremely supportive of my playing soccer but has also allowed me the opportunity to play five other varsity sports (Cross Country, Basketball, Cheerleading, Softball and Track & Field) throughout my high school career. I have been fortunate to play for 12+ years through community, school and travel soccer programs, but I also realize that my ability will only take me so far, and that if I want to play at the next level then I need to work hard and continue to better my skills. I hope to maintain this level of dedication to my grades and athletics through my completion of high school and into my college career.
I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me academically as well as athletically. I believe that not only do I have the talent to compete for a college program, but I also understand the dedication, work-ethic, character, compassion and leadership skills that it will take to compete at the next level of competition since I have been successful six-sport athlete and a ski instructor for kids at our local ski resort. I also believe that with the time management skills that I have learned to maintain this success I will be able to reach my goal of being and sports medicine doctor or athletic trainer.
