Soccer is my balance. When I have a bad day, playing soccer will always make it better. Getting on the field with my team is one of my favorite parts of that day. This sport requires eleven girls working together to play the game. When I started playing soccer it started to become an outlet for me. It made me open up and become more confident as a person. This helps me while playing soccer and in other aspects of my life. I am a much more vocal student now and it helps me push and improve in the classroom. School always comes before soccer. I am a student before an athlete but I am very good at being both.
One of my biggest strengths is that it doesn't matter how small or undersized I may be compared to an opponent. I am not afraid to attack and be physical on the field. This probably comes from my background in playing boys sports growing up. Before playing soccer I played youth football and boys lacrosse. I was the only girl on the team but it did not matter. I liked the challenge. I strove to be the fastest, strongest and bravest person on that team and eventually I was. This hard work ethic makes me into the athlete I am today.
