To say that I love competition would be an understatement.
Everything in my day is a competition; be it with my siblings, my friends or my parents. My dad got me involved in soccer from a very young age. As I have grown older, my passion for the game has only grown. Not just in the physical aspect of running, passing and defending but in understanding the greater dynamics of the game such as ball movement, player positioning off the ball and how those movements are imperative for team success. Also being able to be a leader and gain leadership qualities throughout my soccer career has been immensley helpful not only on the field but also in the classroom and other activities.
Soccer is a lot like Chess, which I also enjoy. Pieces need to move in the right manner to create openings to score. In addition to my love of soccer, I also find enjoyment as a scuba diver, sprinter on the track team, wrestler on the Marysville girls team and an avid reader. Again my competitive side comes out in all of these too.
I became certified to dive when I was 12 years old and received my advanced certification when I was 13. I took great pride in being the youngest in my classes and being one of the most comfortable in the water. With Track, I was fortunate enough to participate in the state track meet my 8th grade year as a sprinter in the 400 meter relay and as a freshman I was a 400 meter District qualifier and part of the 4X4 relay District qualifier. Along with soccer and track I am part of my high school's girls wrestling team which has allowed me to further my mental toughness and physical toughness as well.
But with all of these extracurricular events, I continue to take my school work very seriously. I am in all of the advanced classes that are available to me and have even been selected to a very exclusive English class that I had to write several papers to be accepted into.
I take great pride in being able to do things that few others think are possible and if I had to sum up my work ethic in one phrase it would be “No one cares, work harder.”
