My name is Mia Black, and I have been playing competitive soccer for 12 years. I’m graduating high school in 2024 from Delaware Valley Friends School. I excel on both my club team and school team. I have been a starter for my school's Girl’s Varsity Soccer Team since freshman year. I have been playing on my club team Steel United PA 06 Girls for 4 years. Last year I was selected out 24 players and of eight states for Steel United’s National camp, as well as being one of 18 players chosen from that camp to play in the National Team tournament in Las Vegas. I was honored to be selected again to play in the tournament in Las Vegas.
My dedication to soccer doesn’t end when I walk off the field, I practice every chance I get and enjoy seeing my skills improve through my hard work. I enjoy receiving feedback from my coaches and teammates, so I can improve my skills.
Soccer has taught me many life lessons and core values such as teamwork, respect, integrity and commitment. I have learned how to work hard and give effort regardless of the obstacles that may exist. I am very passionate about soccer and thankful for every opportunity it has provided me. Throughout my years of playing club soccer, I’ve had the opportunity to make many friends who have become like family. This has taught me how to be a better team player on and off the field. My experiences with soccer have also helped me become more resilient, so I’m not afraid to take risks and persist until I achieve my goals, despite how challenging they may be.
My collegiate goal is to attend a school that fulfills not only my athletic goals, but my academic goals as well.
