Personal Statement
Relatively new to running, I am a middle distance runner who has achieved solid results despite training for track only 2-3 times per week for a few months each year. That’s because I have been a year-round soccer player training or playing 5-6 times per week for the last several years for high level club teams. Despite this, I have qualified for the conference championship meet my 9th and 10th grade years, qualifying in the 400, 800 and 1600 this year. In addition, I was able to do so despite missing the last month of the season due to a soccer injury.
My focus is now changing as my competitive passion for sports is clearly with running – an activity that I simply love to do and will for life. As such, I have decided to make running my primary focus starting with the 2023-24 school year (my 11th grade year), though I will continue to do soccer for fun to complement my running (I do still love the game). In college, I am open to doing longer distances and cross country too.
One thing that sets me apart is my ability to happily balance everything while thriving academically, athletically, and socially. As a person and athlete, I am famous for working hard, seeking challenges, and being a great friend. I will bring all of that help my team be successful in everything we do.
I am extremely excited for what lies ahead as I continue to push my limits, try new distances, and set new PRs for the rest of high school.
